After 60 years the management team of CYMOT decided to give the CYMOT logo a new, fresh and dynamic image. Whilst maintaining the corporate identity, the colouring of the letters was changed from black to a three dimensional chrome finish, resembling CYMOT’s direct link to the automotive parts business. The orange flying C’s were enhanced to also provide a more three dimensional modern look.

After Sixty Years

Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of CYMOT and the brand in Namibia, management also decided to include the registered trade mark logo and the lettering “SINCE 1948” with the CYMOT logo. Significant emphasis has been placed during the last number of years on succession planning and manpower development. Today the CYMOT management team has an average age of just under 40 years, whilst having a cumulative 124 years of experience with the company. Below you will find a chronological summary of some of the milestones achieved in CYMOT’s history:

  • Started trading in Windhoek as branch of South African Company with Head Office in Cape Town
1949
  • First official branch in Stübel Street
1958
  • Move to Curt von Francois Street
1968
  • Move to new premises in Tal Street
1969
  • Claus Theissen joined as Assistant Manager
1976
  • Opened Swakopmund branch
1979
  • Opened Tsumeb branch
1981
  • Move to new premises in Tsumeb
  • Opened first automotive self service in Windhoek under name of ‘Autotique’
1984

  • Joined NAPA / MIDAS

  • Opened ‘Tommies Midas’ in Oshakati in joint venture

  • New Greensport Camping & Outdoor product catalogue launched in English & Portuguese
  • Opened CYMOT branch in Lobito / Angola
