Greensport celebrating its 25th Anniversary Date: 27 May 2016
The Greesnport brand was born in 1991; one year after a democratic government was elected to bring peace and stability to Namibia. This opened all doors to Namibian tourism worldwide and it was the great foresight of our then Managing Director and owner of CYMOT, Mr. Claus Theissen, to take the leap and develop an outdoor brand through which CYMOT would start marketing the very first camping products in Namibia. He listed a few products with suppliers in South Africa, such as Cadac gas cylinders and accessories, mattresses, 3 canvas tents named Janni, Henni and Jumbo, sleeping bags, high back chairs, Coleman coolers, Jerry cans, potjies and some lanterns. There was a sudden opportunity to explore all four corners of Namibia, from West to East and North to South. Even the most remote areas such as the well known Kaokoveld, Bushmanland and Caprivi became a destination for the outdoor enthusiasts. The vast southwestern areas with their beautiful colors and soft lines became world famous for travellers and campers, all needing camping equipment, and CYMOT was the only company able to supply.
As the OUTDOOR fraternity grew, new and more durable products were developed in collaboration with factories in South Africa, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Europe. Realizing the power of brands and the opportunity to work directly with factories, gave us the winning edge in that we could give our products a unique Namibian identity such as the Kaoko, Etosha and Caprivi tent range. Until today, the same company we started off with manufactures these tents.
During the last 20 years we included products such as sleeping bags, mattresses, chairs, nylon tents and even metal trunks in the GREENSPORT basket, which became a household brand name in Namibia. All these products were developed along with the manufacturer, keeping quality, durability and aesthetical appearance in mind. The range of white catering furniture, which consists of 19 different products, is the latest addition to the basket, all proudly branded GREENSPORT>
Today we look back over 25 years of success and product excellence, as such a 25 years "Anniversary Edition" Greensport product catalogue has been produced with great care and passion, which will serve as a strong marketing and selling tool for CYMOT's camping division.
